Man Dies After Fire Traps Him In Basement
RAISIN TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a 27-year-old man died after being trapped in the basement of a burning house in southeastern Michigan.
The Lenawee County Sheriff's Department said the fire happened Wednesday night in Raisin Township. The house is near Tecumseh, about 50 miles west-southwest of Detroit.
Police say Jonathon Schmidt was killed in the fire. Two other adults who lived in the house were able to escape.
It wasn't immediately clear what caused the fire. An investigation is ongoing.
Firefighters from seven area communities aided Raisin Township firefighters.
