Man Charged With Murder In Crash That Killed Kids
DETROIT (WWJ) - A Shelby Township man has been charged with drunk driving and murder in connection with a crash that killed two children in Detroit earlier this month.
Prosecutors said 62-year-old David Lamberson was under the influence on the evening of January 8 when he veered into oncoming traffic on Hoover north of Seven Mile and crashed head on into another vehicle.
"The alleged facts in this case are that the driver was intoxicated, in a residential area speeding and driving outside of his lane when he crashed into a car killing two young children. What a senseless tragedy," said Wayne County Prosecutor Worthy, calling the incident a "senseless tragedy."
Lamberson has been charged with two counts of second degree murder, operating under the influence causing death, and reckless driving causing death.
He was expected to be arraigned later Friday or over the weekend.
