Man Charged In Year-Old Fireworks Shooting
GRAND RAPIDS (AP) - A man has been charged in the nearly year-old shooting of two people during the annual Independence Day fireworks display in Grand Rapids.
Police say 20-year-old Devontae Collier is to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon on assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and habitual offender charges.
The two victims were part of a large group that had gathered to watch a fight in a parking lot last July 4. Both had leg wounds and were treated at a Grand Rapids hospital.
The Kent County prosecutor's office authorized a warrant Tuesday against Collier, who was being held in a county jail on unrelated charges.
Collier did not have a lawyer Wednesday morning.
