Man Charged In Slaying Of Hamtramck Retiree
HAMTRAMCK (WWJ/AP) - A 25-year-old man has been charged in the slaying of a 73-year-old Hamtramck retiree.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said Daniel Stoll was arraigned Friday on charges of felony murder, unarmed robbery and larceny.
Norman Gurski's body was found early last Sunday inside his Hamtramck home on Edwin Street. Authorities say Stoll had been living with Gurski at the time of the slaying.
Gurski's niece told reporters her uncle was a kind-hearted man. She said he was a lifelong Hamtramck resident who formerly worked for General Motors and an auto parts supplier.
Stoll was ordered jailed on a $2 million bond. If convicted as charged, he could spend the rest of his life in prison. A preliminary examination is scheduled for May 10.
The prosecutor's office said Gurski's murder remains under investigation.
