Man Charged In Shooting Of 7-Year-Old Detroit Boy
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) — Authorities say a man has been charged in a shooting that wounded a 7-year-old boy in Detroit.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office announced Friday that Torrey Craft faces three counts of assault with intent to murder and other charges. He's expected to be arraigned Saturday in Romulus.
It wasn't immediately clear if the 24-year-old Craft has an attorney.
The incident unfolded around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday on Fairview Street, near Mack Avenue and St. Jean Street.
Authorities say Craft argued with relatives of the mother of his 4-year-old daughter on Monday, and they refused to let him into their home on the city's east side. He returned the next night and fired a gun at the relatives but hit the boy instead, according to investigators.
The boy was hurt in the groin area and remains in the hospital.
