Man Charged In Road Rage Cases Makes Plea Deal
HOWELL (WWJ/AP) - A man from Brighton charged in two road rage cases, including one where police say he rammed a vehicle carrying a woman and seven children, has made a plea deal.
Twenty-six-year-old Steven Blaser pleaded no contest Wednesday to two counts each of felonious assault, malicious destruction of property and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. He faces up to five years in prison when sentenced Nov. 10 in a courtroom in Howell.
In exchange, other charges are being dropped.
In one case on Aug. 1, police say he deliberately rammed his vehicle into a Cadillac Escalade that had seven child passengers inside. He is also accused of beating on the driver's side window and ripping off the SUV's side-view mirror. No injuries were reported.
A second incident was reported after the victim saw Blaser's picture on a news report concerning the Aug. incident.
In that case, which occurred June 27, police say Blaser intentionally slammed on his brakes after passing a Chrysler 300, causing his vehicle to be rear-ended. Allegedly, Blaser then got out of his car, jumped on victim's front bumper, kicked the victim's driver side mirror off and began punching the driver side window before fleeing. The man and two children inside the car were unharmed.
