Man Charged In Crash That Injured L. Brooks Patterson
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Royal Oak man has been charged in connection with the Auburn Hills accident two weeks ago that seriously injured three people, including Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson.
Anthony Prainito, 31, is facing three misdemeanor counts of moving violation causing serious impairment of a bodily function, punishable by up to 93 days in jail.
Patterson, 73, was the front seat passenger in a car that was traveling eastbound on Walton Blvd., when it collided with a car that was turning left at the intersection of Opdyke Road. Patterson's vehicle had a green light and the right-of-way, according to police.
Neither Patterson nor his driver, Jim Cram, a 60-year-old retired Michigan State Police officer, was wearing a seat belt. Patterson, who suffered injuries to his wrists, leg and hip, is still at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac.
Cram also remained hospitalized on Wednesday. Prainito's passenger was treated and released.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
