Man Arrested In Slaying Of Elderly UP Woman
BESSEMER, Mich. (AP) - A 50-year-old Upper Peninsula man is charged in the disappearance and slaying of a 79-year-old Bessemer woman.
Kenneth Peters was arraigned Thursday in Gogebic County District Court on first-degree and second-degree murder charges and second-degree vulnerable adult abuse.
Gogebic County sheriff's officials and the state police arrested him Wednesday night.
The body of Ethel Grzena-Peters was found Aug. 13 in Gogebic County's Watersmeet Township, about 90 miles southwest of Marquette and just north of the Wisconsin state line.
Grzena-Peters last was seen alive on Aug. 3.
Peters did not have an attorney Thursday. He was ordered held without bond in the county jail in Bessemer.
His next hearing is scheduled Aug. 31.
