Man Arrested In Hospital Employee Mugging
DETROIT (WWJ) - Henry Ford Hospital Security says they nabbed a suspect in a robbery near the hospital Wednesday morning in Detroit. It happened near the northwest corner of the hospital campus at Pallister and Poe.
Officials said a female employee was robbed at gunpoint but wasn't hurt.
Detroiter Malik Ali said he was working on a house a block away when he had a dangerous encounter with the suspect.
"I looked up and I seen the guy had a gun, getting ready to jump into the yard. So, at that point I drew mine and he looked at me, through it over, saw I was serious I guess and he took off and went the other way," Ali told WWJ Newsradio 950's Vickie Thomas. "I'm glad he didn't do it. I'm glad he didn't point that heater at me, too, because we'd be doing a different story today."
The suspect was arrested a short time later, hiding in bushes.
Ali said the gunman appeared to be in his 20s. His name has not been released.
