Man Arrested For Making Threats To School
After months of searching a registered sex offender is behind bars for threatening to do "bad things" inside a Troy elementary school.
Troy Police say 47 year old Anthony Aaron Robinson from Detroit allegedly called Hamilton Elementary School back in September claiming that he was armed and dangerous and had a girl hidden upstairs in the bathroom. He said he had two guns and said "bad things will happen when the school bell rings at the end of the day." The school was locked down until a police search revealed the suspect wasn't at the school.
Troy Police Lieutenant Bob Redmond says Robinson had a vivid imagination because he was at his home the whole time.
"The employees there did a tremendous job keeping him on the line and talking. Obviously there is caller ID so sometimes you can tell who's calling you just have to track the number," Redmond said.
Police located Robinson shortly after they cleared the school.
He was arraigned Thursday on a charge of false threat of an act of terrorism. He'll be back in court next week.
Robinson is facing a second similar charge because the same type of incident occurred in Huntington Woods earlier in the day.
