Man Allegedly Turns Gun On Himself In Confrontation With Estranged Wife
MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Police in Madison Heights are investigating a rare event in that suburb - a shooting death.
Deputy Chief Corey Haines says a 31-year-old Warren man fired on his estranged wife's boyfriend early Sunday morning outside her trailer home on Annapolis.
He missed, and that's when, Haines says, James Richardson turned the gun on himself.
"We don't have anything to refute that - we are looking at all the evidence in this case ... interviewing all the witnesses that are involved and we will make a determination after all the evidence is looked at," he said.
Haines says Richardson called a friend and threatened to shoot the boyfriend after hearing him in the background while he was on the phone with his estranged wife.
"The investigators are looking at all avenues of this crime, but there is nothing indicating in the initial police report that there has been any previous activity such as this," said Deputy Haines.
Haines says the wife did not have a protection order out against Richardson.
