Man Accused Of Stealing Mail
An Oakland County man is in jail and facing criminal charges after admitting he had stolen hundreds of pieces of mail.
The suspect was arrested after an off-duty Sheriff's deputy Saturday found several pieces of mail on the side of the road near Haven and Leonard roads in Addison Township.
Deputies contacted some of the homeowners whose mail was found and one witness led investigators to a 23-year old man who lives nearby. The suspect was wanted for violating probation and gave the deputy several hundred pieces of opened and unopened mail.
During an interview with investigators, the suspect admitted to stealing the mail with another man. That person was not in custody as of Sunday afternoon.
Post Office investigators are expected to join in the case on Monday.
A motive for stealing the mail hasn't been released. Charges are pending.
