Man Accused Of Killing Baby's Mother To Undergo Independent Exam
TROY (WWJ) - A 25-year-old man accused of gunning down the mother of his child is set to undergo another examination to determine if he's competent to stand trial on murder charges.
Cory Mullen, who was named a person of interest early on in the investigation, is accused of killing 21-year-old Jamila Vigier-Cage on March 7, 2015. He's charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony.
A judge on Wednesday granted Mullen's defense team's motion for an independent examination. The Clinton Township man has already undergone two forensic psychiatric exams in the case.
Police say Vigier-Cage, of Auburn hills, was found dead in the driver's seat of her car, which was parked behind the office of One Source Talent Agency on Industrial Road near Coolidge in Troy. Mullen was taken into custody near the MGM Casino in Detroit the next day.
Police said Vigier-Cage, the mother of Mullen's child, had multiple gunshot wounds to her head and upper body.
