Man Accepts Plea Deal In Road Rage Shooting
A suburban Detroit man facing a second trial in the road rage shooting of another driver has agreed to a plea deal that includes psychiatric help.
Under the deal, sentencing for 28-year-old Carl Mintz of Farmington Hills could be delayed 11 months.
A mistrial was declared in August after jurors spent four days deliberating. A second trial was scheduled to begin Thursday.
Mintz was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm and having a firearm in a felony. He was accused of shooting Faith Said in the arm. Mintz claimed self-defense, saying Said came toward him in a threatening manner during the April 12 altercation in Farmington Hills.
Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper tells The Oakland Press that Mintz could still face jail time.
