Macomb's A Regional Player Says County Exec Heading To Mackinac Conference
MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) - All eyes are on Mackinac Island this week for the Mackinac Policy Conference, the annual think tank hosted by the Detroit Regional Chamber.
The event draws business leaders and government officials from around the state. One of those is Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel.
He's looking to emphasize his county's strong background in the defense industry.
"This is a state-wide advantage we have being part of defense, so when I go up there I want to talk about Macomb, making it regional and I want to talk about the rich history and the advantages we have with the defense industry here in Macomb County in southeast Michigan," said Hackel.
Hackel said he wants to stress that Macomb County wants to be a regional player.
The conference runs through Friday and features several keynote speakers including former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
