Macomb Woman Stabbed During Home Invasion
MACOMB TWP. (WWJ) - Police are searching for a man who attacked and robbed a Macomb Township woman.
Macomb County Sheriff's officials say the brazen home invasion took place at about 10 a.m. at the woman's residence on Fairchild Street, in the area of 22 Mile Road and Gratiot.
Investigators say the robbery kicked in the woman's front door and attacked.
"When he takes two knives and sticks them into the victim's neck, I mean, he had every intent to kill that victim," Captain Tony Wickersham said.
Wickersham told WWJ's Stephanie Davis they used tracking dogs and Border Patrol helicopters to search for the suspect, but found nothing -- until someone spoke up.
"A neighbor approached us and indicated that a relative of his picked up a white male in the area of 22 Mile, east of Fairchild, and transported him to the area of 15 Mile and Gratiot," Wickersham said.
There, investigators began another search, but still turned up nothing.
Wickersham said the 69-year old victim was stabbed twice in the neck by the intruder. She was able to call 9-1-1 and give a description of her assailant to police.
The woman was taken to Mount Clemens General Hospital where she underwent surgery later Wednesday.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Macomb County Sheriff's Department.
