Macomb County Sweep Targets Deadbeat Moms And Dads
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - The sheriff's office along with the Friend of the Court in Macomb County are conducting a four-day sweep in an effort to arrest people who are delinquent on their child support.
Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said the sweep will begin next Monday, Dec. 10, and continue through Dec. 13.
"The whole thing of this sweep and putting this out prior to the sweep is trying to encourage those who are behind on their child support to make contact with their case worker and avoid arrest," Wickersham told WWJ Newsradio 950.
Wickersham said Macomb County Chief Circuit Court Judge Viviano will work with people who may have employment issues. "A lot of the individuals that we go after, they're just ... not paying, they're not compliant, nor do they make any contact with their case worker or the court to try to explain their situation."
Individuals in Macomb County who are behind on their child support can make arrangements to pay what they owe by going to the Friend of the Court Office located on the sixth floor of the Macomb County Circuit Court Building on weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
