Macomb County Looks To Improve IT
MT. CLEMENS -- In an effort to streamline services and save taxpayers money, Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel has created an Information Technology Steering Committee that will focus on bringing the best technology practices to the county.
Thirteen different county departments are represented on the IT Steering Committee, which was started late in the summer of last year. The committee has already played an integral role in ensuring the technology side of the Executive's office is running efficiently, including choosing Google as its email platform -- which includes Google Apps for Government.
Most notably, the IT Steering Committee has recently recommended to Executive Hackel to select a consulting company to perform an in-depth assessment on county technology. The assessment, which is starting next month, is geared to provide Macomb County with the information needed to implement the technology industry's best practices in the government sector as well as create a technology roadmap to follow.
"The assessment will further streamline the county's technology, improve services and save money through innovation," said Hackel.
