Macomb County Bomb Scare Suspect Arrested
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - A 42-year-old Harrison Township man has been arrested in connection with Monday's bomb threat at the Macomb County Circuit Court Building.
Police said the suspect called the court and said there was a "bomb in the building," and to "get out!"
The court was evacuated so a K-9 unit could conduct a search.
Although no device was found, court officials said it disrupted operations for the rest of the day.
Macomb County Sheriff Tony Wickersham said the man had a motive.
"It appears he had a court date yesterday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. So, he's not giving us much information, but we can only speculate he didn't want to make his court date," Wickersham said.
Wicksham said the suspect was picked up after police traced the call to his cell phone.
He was arrested without incident and will be arraigned, Wednesday, on a felony charge of making a false bomb report.
If convicted, he faces up to four years in jail.
The suspect's name has not yet been released.
