Macomb County Announces Online CCW Applications
ROSEVILLE (AP) - Macomb County residents can now apply for a concealed weapons permit online. County Clerk Carmella Sabaugh made the announcement, Friday, at Peters Indoor Range and Gun Shop.
There, WWJ's Florence Walton spoke with employee Charles Burnett who said its an efficient way to do business.
"If you're able to do it online, everyone has computers. Everybody feels comfortable at home doing it. It does cut down on fraud and protects your identity," Burnett said.
"It's kind of a one stop shop. You put all of your information in there and you're able to go right to the county," he said.
Macomb County Commissioner and Concealed Weapons Licensing Board member Fred Miller says this will make things much easier for the 8,000 people who apply in the county each year.
"All of those citizens will have the ability to use this technology to shorten their weight, to streamline the process," he said.
CCW applicants are still required to go through criminal back ground checks and appear in person at the clerk's office.
