M-39 Driver Hospitalized After Striking Construction Sign
DETROIT (WWJ) - One person was critically injured in a crash that shut down M-39, the Southfield Freeway, late Wednesday morning.
According to police, a motorist plowed through an arrow board that was on the freeway near a construction zone at I-96.
The northbound M-39 was closed completely for a time, backing up traffic to Warren Ave. At noon, the freeway had reopened, although the right lane remained closed as police worked to clear the scene.
There were no details immediately available about the driver, who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said no road workers were hurt.
An investigation continues.
