Lt. Governor To Discuss Detroit-Windsor Bridge With Council
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit City Council getting a sales pitch from Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley for Lansing's version of a publicly-funded, privately-run Detroit-Windsor bridge crossing.
Calley's expected to point out, Thursday, how their new international trade crossing bridge would connect expressways on both sides of the border, while the span proposed by Matty Moroun would only bring traffic to Windsor's surface streets. The Morouns argue their project would be a simple upgrade as oppose to a completely new project dependent on taxpayer money.
Studies find no argument for the need for a new bridge with the current bottlenecks at the Ambassador Bridge adding $800 to the cost to every car made in the U.S. and Canada.
