Local Woman Determined To Cast Out K2

FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - A Farmington Hills woman is making it her mission to help rid store shelves of K2 and other designer drugs.

Jill Sherman Marx had planned to protest at a gas station on Orchard Lake and 12 Mile that was selling the so-called synthetic marijuana,

but the store has since pulled it off the shelves.

As the mother of three teens and a toddler, Sherman Marx says it's personal.

"I have a young client that disclosed to me that, within the last week, when I told her I was going to hold a protest against K2, that she spent two days in the ICU (intensive care unit) after eating brownies that were laced with K2," Sherman Marx told WWJ Newsradio 950's Beth Fisher.

Sherman Marx, a personal trainer, also knows the parents of the West Bloomfield teen who allegedly used Spice before he was allegedly shot to death by his grandmother.

"Being a parent today , we have so many things that we have to worry about with our kids and this is just one that I pray that I do not have to deal with in my own home," Sherman Marx said.

Sherman Marx is calling for a boycott and says she is ready to protest outside any gas station or store that sells K2 or Spice in the area.

There has been a wave of activity nationwide this week aimed at eliminating the banning "loophole" drugs such as K2, Spice and Bath Salts. Detroit this week joined several other communities that have taken action locally as a statewide ban moves through the Michigan legislature.
