Local Teachers Head To New York To Run For A Cause

WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) - A group of local teachers is heading to the Big Apple this weekend to run the New York Marathon along storm damaged streets.
The group is a part of RUN4CHANGE, a team running for he anti-bullying nonprofit "Defeat the Label." They're hoping to raise $26,000 for the cause.
West Bloomfield Schools teacher Mark Rebtoy is one of them and he says he knows the trip will not be what he and the seven other teachers joining him first envisioned.
"We know when we get there, it's not going to be the typical New York trip that we all had envisioned," Rebtoy said. "For myself and some of the other runners, it's our first time ever going to New York and we know it's going to be chaos. It's going to be devastation and there's going to be a lot of confusion with that large amount of people down there."
What does he expect to see when he arrives in the storm-torn region?
I know the race has been rerouted a little bit so we don't run through the flooded areas but we know it's going to be hectic," He said. "It's going to be crazy but it's going to be all part of the experience so I'm going to persevere through that."
Defeat the Label was the organization that brought the bullying issue in the schools to the attention of millions around the globe with their 2012 Stand4Change Day.
