Lloyd Carr, Herb Deromedi Named To College Football Playoff Committee

The new College Football Playoff selection committee will have a slightly Michigan hue this year. Former head coach Lloyd Carr was named to the committee, according to ESPN. In addition, former Central Michigan head coach Herb Deromedi will join him.
The CFP committee is responsible for choosing the four teams to make the annual playoff. Next season will be the third year that college football uses a playoff format to determine a national champion.
Both Carr and Deromedi - in addition to Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens and former Southern Miss coach Jeff Bower - were appointed by the 10-person CFP management committee.
Carr is third in Michigan history in wins (with 122), and led the Wolverines to six bowl victories and a share of the 1997 national title.
According to the ESPN story, Deromedi said it held no significance that two people on the four-person committee had ties to Michigan.
"We've chosen to represent the country," he said. "We're not representing our school, our conference and certainly not the state of Michigan."
Deromedi was at Central Michigan from 1978 to 1993, winning 110 games before he became CMU's athletic director from 1994 to 2006.
