LIVONIA, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - The convenience store and gas station chain Sheetz has run into another roadblock with its intentions to add new locations in southeast Michigan. 

Livonia City Council, during its meeting Monday, rejected a plan for the retailer to develop a 24-hour site at Eight Mile and Newburgh roads where a former Rite Aid once stood.  

The official request, as listed on the agenda, involved rezoning the property from C-1 (Local Business District) to C-2 (General Business District). A public hearing on the matter took place Dec. 9. 

"We are extremely disappointed by last night's narrow vote, especially given the number of supporters who spoke on our behalf at the hearing. We will be evaluating all available options at this location moving forward," Nick Ruffner, Public Affairs Manager for Sheetz, said in a statement issued Tuesday.  

There is a Sheetz in Romulus; and the company has announced plans to add 50 to 60 new locations in Michigan. But in some of those proposed locations in Metro Detroit, the communities have been pushing back
