Lions To Tackle Undefeated Packers On Thanksgiving Day
DETROIT (WWJ) - The eyes of the football fans across the country will be on Ford Field this Thanksgiving Day as the Detroit Lions host the undefeated Green Bay Packers.
Longtime Lions fans will remember that way back in 1962 the Lions roughed up another undefeated Packer team, 26-to-14, in one of the more memorable Turkey Day games.
Lions defensive tackle Roger Brown was there.
"The Detroit Lions used to own the Thanksgiving Day game, and I'm sure Suh and that whole crew ... I'm sure they'll do an outstanding job, and we're pulling for them 100-percent," said Brown during a conference call on Monday.
"Back in '62 we had a vendetta. Green Bay came in undefeated. We gave them a gift up in Green Bay and we wanted to set the record straight," he said.
Also on the field at Tiger Stadium that day was Lions Hall of Fame linebacker Joe Schmidt.
"Detroit has a great traditions as far as the Thanksgiving game is concerned, and we always play super football and hopefully they can come out and duplicate the game we had against them back in 1962," Schmidt said.
Oddsmakers in Las Vegas have established the Packers as a 6-point favorite in the game.
Kickoff Thursday is 12:30 p.m.. You can hear the game live on 97.1 The Ticket.
