Lions Rookie DB Amari Spievey Shows Ability, Also Inexperience

Call it a baptism by fire.

Lions rookie Amari Spievey was switched from cornerback to safety for the last practice of the week Thursday. And on Saturday, he found himself as the last line of defense in his first home game at Ford Field.

Two days isn't a whole lot of prep time, and as expected, Spievey's performance was a mixed bag in a 35-27 victory over the Browns.

The rookie out of Iowa did some good things, like sacking quarterback Seneca Wallace in the third quarter to help hold the Browns to just a field goal.

"It felt so good," Spievey said of the sack. "I felt so fast."

Spievey also shared the team lead for tackles with six.

"To be honest, I feel very comfortable back there," he said. "After a while I just let my instincts take over and played football. It felt good back there."
