Lions coach Jim Schwartz told The News he is optimistic about Stafford's recover.
"When he got injured the second time, we thought that he had a chance to bounce back from it without surgery and be able to bounce back maybe a little bit quicker than he did the first time," Schwartz said. "People compared it to spraining an ankle. The first time you sprain an ankle, it takes awhile to come back from. every subsequent time, you bounce back a little quicker."
Stafford indicated that there is no timetable for his return to game action.
