Lions Won't Rush Stafford's Return
Matthew Stafford will do some "light throwing" this week as part of his rehab from a sprained throwing shoulder, but that doesn't mean the Lions are rushing their second-year quarterback's return to the field.
"That's just part of his rehab and where he is," Lions coach Jim Scwhartz said today in his weekly appearance on 97.1 WXYT-FM. "I think we're happy with where he is based on the injury that he had, and like I said as soon as he's able to do things like that we'll sort of cut him loose to do it but not before."
Stafford has not played since landing hard on his right shoulder at the end of the first half of the Lions' season-opening loss to the Bears. Stafford's replacement, Shaun Hill, has five interceptions in three games and the Lions are 0-3.
