Lions' Linebacking Corps Lacks Continuity
Injuries are part of the NFL. But Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham said no one cares about that excuse, and he doesn't either when it comes to the performance of his linebackers.
"We had a couple of issues the last couple of days, so we usually have about a half-hour walk-through," Cunningham said Thursday. "I jacked that up to 45 minutes, and the next one's going to be at 5 a.m. if we don't start understanding exactly what we've got to do.
"Is there a reason for some of their mistakes? Yeah, I could say some of them don't know the scheme yet because they just got here a couple of months ago. Or injury problems. But like I told you last week, they don't ask you about injuries after the game. They ask you if you won or lost."
