Lions' Home Opener Sells Out
The Detroit Lions have sold out Sunday's home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, team president Tom Lewand said before the start of practice today. The game will be shown on local television.
Lewand said the Eagles returned "several hundred tickets" that remain for sale, but the Lions did not need help from a sponsor to sell out the 2,000 or so seats that remained as of Thursday afternoon.
Last year, the Lions had four blackouts.
"Our fans" bought the remaining tickets, Lewand said. "And we couldn't be more excited. This is the fans supporting us and we in turn expect to put a good product out there Sunday and make it a great atmosphere. They're doing their part by supporting us and we're going to do our part by playing a great game on Sunday."
