Lions High-Octane Offense Runs Out Of Gas At Times
ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Lions rank among the NFL's highest scoring offenses.
Numbers can lie.
Detroit has lost five of last seven games in large part because its one-dimensional offense has been held to fewer than 20 points in each of those setbacks.
The Lions have started slow in many games this year and have rallied from deficits of at least 17 points three times behind quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
They've struggled to run for much of the year and injuries to Jahvid Best and Mikel Leshoure haven't helped.
Detroit hopes it can figure out how to click on offense Sunday at home against the Minnesota Vikings in a game it needs to win for wild-card positioning.
