Lions Have a Golden Opportunity
By Matt Dery
It is extremely early in the season, but the NFC North looks winnable for the Lions. Green Bay is the class of the division, but I see holes with the Pack despite their convincing 23-10 win over the Bears last night. I could have picked off Jay Cutler on this night and the Packers offense does not look as potent as it did a year ago. There was a lot of talk about the Bears and how improved they would be in 2012, yet, I do not see it yet through two games. Cutler's offensive line is still an issue and last night the quarterback looked like a failed leader blaming everybody but himself. Chicago is 1-1 and that is probably where they should be right now. The Packers know they have to play better and their schedule is tough coming up with three of the next four on the road, including playing in a hostile environment next Monday night in Seattle. The Lions have a chance to grab first place in the NFC North Sunday night with a win in San Francisco and really make a statement. No one thinks they are going to win this football game, not after the 49ers opened up a can at Lambeau last week. This truly is a sweet opportunity for them.
