Lions Get First Win, 44-6 Over The Rams
A sold out Ford Field witnessed the Detroit Lions (1-4) first victory of the 2010-2011 NFL season, 44-6 over the St. Louis Rams (2-3).
The offense, which finally came to life today, was sparked in the second quarter by a 105 yard kick return for touchdown by Stefan Logan. Logan's return tied a franchise record for distance set by Terry Fair in 1998 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The last time a Lion returned a kick for touchdown was Casey Fitzsimmons in 2007 against the Green Bay Packers.
Quarterback Shaun Hill had fun today going 21 of 32 for 227 yards, and threw three touchdowns. Calvin Johnson, Brandon Pettigrew, and Nate Burleson all caught the touchdown passes from Hill, while Jason Hanson added three field goals from 30, 47, and 48 yards out.
Jim Schwartz earned his third ever win as Lions Head Coach, and had a special guest in the locker room after the win, Kid Rock.
Schwartz said of Kid Rock addressing his team, "He takes a lot of pride in not just this city, but in the sports teams. He was here in town, he wanted to come to the game, he claims to be the luckiest guy in America, and he proved his luck today."
The next game for the Lions will be Sunday against the New York Giants at the New Meadowlands Stadium.
