Lions Confident Their Upgraded Secondary Will Play Well
Don't hold this group of Lions accountable for the team's past transgressions.
That's been a running theme during camp, and especially now as the opener in Chicago on Sunday draws near. And no other position will test the sincerity of that mantra more than the secondary.
Even though only one player, safety Louis Delmas, remains from last year's team, the stench of allowing opposing quarterbacks to post a 107 rating while completing 68.1 percent of their passes lingers.
"That comes with the territory," said veteran safety C.C. Brown, one of three new starters. "You all (the media) are taking shots at us because we're so young, or however you want to classify it. But this is the first group I've been around that's jelled this fast. For this being the first year everybody has been together, we are an explosive group."
