Lions Coach Schwartz Addresses 'Unfortunate' Post-Game Incident
DETROIT (WWJ) - Thousands have seen the video: Detroit Lions Coach Jim Schwartz lost his cool a bit and chased after San Francisco 49'ers Coach Jim Harbaugh in a post-game scuffle at Ford Field Sunday.
Schwartz addressed the incident at a Monday press conference, calling it "unfortunate."
"The game's played by players on the field and we certainly don't want things like that to occur, but there's competitive people in the league and I think ...we need to do a better job to just leaving it to the players on the field," Schwartz said.
"It is unfortunate that the events after the game have overshadowed the fact that it was probably one of the better games played yesterday, and two teams that are both right now 5-1 in the NFC and both young and improving teams," he said.
Schwartz has claimed he went to congratulate Harbaugh who shoved him out the way and said an expletive.
He said he had a chance to talk to Harbaugh in the tunnel following the incident and is sure they'll talk again.
