CBS DETROIT - The Detroit Lions hosted Georgia running back Todd Gurley on a pre-draft visit Monday, the team announced.

Gurley, who played in six games as a junior in 2014, racked up 911 yards and nine touchdowns on 123 attempts. He missed four games while suspended for accepting money to sign memorabilia, and in his first game back, he tore his ACL.

The Lions gave Gurley a physical when he visited Monday, according to the team website. Gurley told the team website he expects to be back on the field around the time of training camp.

As a sophomore, Gurley rushed for 989 yards and 10 touchdowns. As a freshman, he ran for 1,385 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Detroit will likely add a running back in either the draft or free agency because they released veteran Reggie Bush, the team's marquee player at that position, after he struggled with injuries in 2014.

The Lions hosted another college running back expected to go high in the draft, Tevin Coleman of Indiana, earlier in the month.
