Leyland Announces Opening Day Starter
Yesterday, Manager Jim Leyland gave the nod to starter Justin Verlander, for the fourth year in a row as the Opening day starter. It won't be any easy task for Verlander, as he will be greeted by the hostile Yankee fans for a 1:05pm start time on March 31st in the Bronx. (Hear the game on 97.1 The Ticket, pregame begins at 12:40pm).
In addition to announcing Verlander as the opening day starter, Leyland announced that Max Scherzer will be pitching the home opener at Comerica on Friday, April 8th against the Kansas City Royals. Scherzer will also be pitching the third game of the season against the Yankees, which is the last game of the season opening series in the Bronx.
