Lesson On Golf- Who Wins The Masters?
By: Jeff Lesson
Is this the year Tiger Woods wins his first green jacket in eight years? He is the overwhelming favorite in the field of over 90 with odds between 2-1 and 3-1.
He is off to his best early season start in years having won three PGA Tour events already. Yet Tiger has always wanted to be judged based on how he does at the majors-putting at Augusta is quite different than putting at Doral, Torrey Pines or Bay Hill.
The biggest difference in his play has been his putting- especially between six and ten feet. He has been awesome so far this year. But his putting at the Masters has been awful in the clutch since 2005. He will have to get over that mental hurdle to succeed at Augusta or any Major.
It is difficult to imagine Bubba Watson- a guy who cries at the drop of the hat- repeating. Likewise with Luke Donald or Lee Westwood, who have never sealed the deal.
The wild game of Phil Mickelson gives him his only chance to win a major at Augusta. Rory McIlroy has been adjusting to new club with minimal success- yet won the PGA last year after missing four of five cuts heading in.
My pick is Jason Duffner. The guy seems unflappable and not bothered by Augusta greens.
Tell me what you think will be Tiger Woods total score at the end of the Masters. Closest to wins a dozen brand new Titleist ProV1 balls! A random drawing will decide any ties.
