Lear Makes Donation To Detroit
The Lear Corporation has announced a $5 million gift to Detroit. Tuesday, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing accepted the gift and proposed a challenge to other businesses.

"What I'd like to do today, not only thanking them for their support, but use it as a challenge to other business groups that can do some of the things that Lear has stepped up to the table to do," Bing said.
"So I'll be going out, as I have been, to other business relationships that I've been able to formulate over time and use this as an example of how we work together to bring this city back," Bing said.
Lear is a Southfield-based global automotive supplier and their gift is already at work improving Hope Playfield in Northwest Detroit and the Ravendale Community Center a portion of the money will be used to create jobs for Detroiters.
The grant will be earmarked to address critical community needs such as nutrition, health and education in several neighborhoods throughout Detroit.
