Lawmaker Wants To Ban Marijuana Clubs
A state lawmaker from mid-Michigan plans to introduce legislation later this month to outlaw marijuana clubs.
The clubs were set up after Michigan voters approved a proposal allowing some people to use marijuana for medical purposes.
WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick reports representative Rick Jones from Grand Ledge is concerned that people would get high at the clubs and then drive.
"I have no problem with somebody in pain and in their own home using the product, that's what Michiganders wanted, they didn't want them back on the road driving," Jones said on WKAR's "Off The Record," which is hosted by Skubick.
In May, Jones, who is a former Eaton County Sheriff, said the bill would ban opening public clubs for the purpose of consuming marijuana.
Lawmakers are on summer break until July 21st.
