LaShell Griffin To Perform At St. Leo's Soup Kitchen
DETROIT (WWJ) - Gospel Recording Artist and Detroit native LaShell Griffin will lend her vocal gifts to help those less fortunate.
Griffin is giving a free concert for "A Mission of Love Campaign" on Saturday to benefit St. Leo's Soup Kitchen in Detroit.
Griffin said benefits like this really hit home with her.
"I understand what it's like to struggle, to be on food stamps, to have Medicaid," she confessed. "I understand what it's like to be without and your kids growing out of their clothes and you need someone to help you."
The soup kitchen provides, food, clothing, free haircuts and more to the homeless and needy. The public is asked to come out and donate non-perishable food and clothing for the event.
"Go into your attic, go into your basement where you have all these boxes of clothes and shoes and things you know you're not going to wear again, but you don't want to throw them out because they're still wearable," Griffin suggested, as a simple way to donate.
Griffin will perform between 11 an and 7 pm on Saturday. The soup kitchen is located on East Jefferson in Detroit.
