Lansing Run Includes Folks From Boston Marathon
LANSING (WWJ) - Lots of cheers and words of support for runners as they approached the finish line of the Lansing Marathon.
Kelli Wheeler of Mason, and her family, among the spectators lining the finish line - cheering on the runners as they approached the finish line.
"It feels fantastic to come out and cheer people on and to know that people came out to run after what happened," said Wheeler. "It's fantastic - it's a great feeling."
Wheeler and her husband were in Boston at the time of the bombings. Kelli Wheeler running in the Marathon as her husband waited for her at the finish line. She says it was important for her and her entire family to be at the Lansing Marathon.
"We got the family ready so we could come out here and make sure we had a presence - so we could show everyone that we were in Boston and we are still ... here."
Wheeler adding that it was important for her, her husband and their kids to show the world that -- despite what happened in Boston -- they didn't give up.
