Kroger Looks To Give Customers A Speedy Check-Out
DETROIT (WWJ) - Kroger wants to speed up the traffic moving through their check-out lanes. Now, they're using sensors that indicate when more checkout lanes are needed to be open.
Nobody wants to wait in line, especially at the grocery store:
Now, the Cincinnati-based supermarket chain is winning shoppers with a wait of just 26 seconds to start in the checkout lane ... that's down from 4 minutes a few years ago.
By the end of this year, the nation's largest grocer expects to complete the installation of "overhead infrared sensors" that count the number of customers in all 2,424 stores.
Customers will see the results changing on light boards at the front of stores. They show the number of checkout lanes in service now, the number needed, and the number projected to be needed in 30 minutes.
