Kids Can Celebrate Tigers With Build-A-Bear
TROY (CBS Detroit) Looking for a way to get the kids into the World Series spirit? Check out the newly designed Build-A-Bear Workshop store opening Friday at Somerset Collection.
The store is inviting visitors to make a Detroit Tigers bear in celebration of our grand opening and the World Series. The four-piece Tigers uniform for the bears with a jersey, pants with belt, stirrups and hat is $16. A girly version offers a sparkly pink hat with the old English "D," pink shorts and a bedazzled jersey.
But this isn't your mother's Build-A-Bear workshop. The Somerset store has computer aided design with all the bells and whistles today's consumers have come to expect.
"To celebrate the grand opening of the new Build-A-Bear Workshop store at Somerset Collection, Build-A-Bear Workshop has spent the last two years creating the store design that merges the hands-on bear-making experience with innovative technology that is central to how kids play today," the store said in a press release. "The updated store allows guests of all ages to personalize the bear-making process and offers a different experience each time they visit the store.
The store grand opening kicks off at 10 a.m. Friday with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and local children making bears to be donated to Camp Mak-A-Dream, which will help distribute the bears to children in need of a teddy bear hug.
The first 100 guests can make a special bear for free to be donated to Camp Mak-A-Dream. The day will include family-friendly entertainment throughout the day, including appearances by Bearemy, the Build-A-Bear Workshop huggable mascot.
The Build-A-Bear Workshop is at Somerset Collection, 2800 West Big Beaver Road, Troyl; call 248-822-8988.
