Khang's Blog: Tigers Preview
The Detroit Tigers are scheduled to open the baseball season Thursday vs. the New York Yankees. Judging by the callers on our show fans have mixed feelings about this year's team and I can't blame them. Although I'm fairly confident in their everyday lineup I don't feel the same about the pitching staff. Besides Justin Verlander who can you really count on? Can Porcello bounce back from last year? Is Phil Coke ready to be a starter? Can Brad Penny stay healthy? What do the Tigers really have in Max Scherzer? And was last year an aberration for Joaquin Benoit? That's a lot of questions for a team looking to win the division! In the end I think the Tigers will stay in contention all year and look to make a deal for another arm to put them over the top at the trade deadline. Unfortunately I don't think it will be enough as the Tigers will fall short and finish second in the division missing out on the playoffs all together.
