Kensington Metropark Holiday Fireworks Moved To June

MILFORD (WWJ) - Instead of having fireworks over the Fourth of July holiday, Kensington Metropark will salute America with fireworks Saturday, June 11.

As part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks "Salute to America Appreciation Day," fireworks will light up the sky Saturday at 10:10 pm at the Metropark, located near the Milford/Brighton area.

Each year, thousands of people pack Kensington Metropark for fireworks, so attendees should plan to arrive at least two hours early due to crowd conditions.

Surrounding Kent Lake, Kensington Metropark is one of the most popular parks in Michigan, with 4,481 sprawling acres of wooded, hilly terrain.

A $5 daily vehicle entry permit is required to enter any Metropark. Visitors can also purchase an annual pass for $25, or $15 for seniors.

Your $5 will get you much more than fireworks though. Visitors can enjoy more than eight miles of paved paths, fishing, fitness train, nature center, swimming and picnicking. The Metropark is also home to an 18-hole golf course, disc golf course and horse-drawn hayrides.

For more information, call Kensington Metropark at 248-685-1561 or visit metroparks.com.
