A Re-Count Scheduled For DFT President
Keith Johnson will have to wait until the recount on votes is complete Wednesday, January 19 to find out if he continues as the Detroit Federation of Teachers (DFT) president.
A vote count Saturday gave Keith Johnson the victory by 41 votes. But there may have been a couple hundred votes that were not counted in today's vote count, leading to the necessity for a recount.
Johnson is going up against challenger Steve Conn in a run-off election.
Saturday's contested vote was close 1,974-1,933. With a 41 vote difference-a couple hundred votes could make a solid difference to the outcome. Either way, either winner, there will be work to do to unify the union.
