Kate Upton Lobbying For A Certain Major Leaguer's Inclusion In The All-Star Game
CBS DETROIT - Does Justin Verlander have competition for the title of Kate Upton's favorite baseball player?
Verlander, the Detroit Tigers longtime ace, and Upton, the swimsuit model of Sports Illustrated fame, make no secret of their relationship. They have been seen out and about all over the country. She has been spotted at numerous Tigers games. The duo even tweet at one another for all to see.
As wonderfully happy as the couple appears, however, this year has been an aggravating one professionally for Verlander. While he struggled last season as well, he still made the All-Star team. This year, given a 4.71 ERA even before he gave up five runs Tuesday night, no midseason honors will be coming Verlander's way. Many wonder if the pitcher, with so many innings and pitches under his belt, is beginning a steep decline.
His girlfriend, however, is still lobbying for fans to vote someone into the All-Star Game - Atlanta Braves outfielder Justin Upton.
Upton usually finds herself featured in Sports Illustrated in February, when the magazine releases its annual swimsuit edition. Last October, however, she shared a cover with the baseball brothers who share her last name.
Justin Upton has a .277 batting average and .350 on-base percentage with 17 home runs and 50 runs batted in.
